Child Youth Safety Training for Parents

Post date: Oct 01, 2012 7:56:48 PM

Dear Cub Parents,

As we discussed at the parent meeting during our first Cub meeting, Scouts Canada now requires parents who wish to participate in overnight camps to complete the Child Youth Safety Training. This is currently available on-line through https://www/myscouts.ca .

To complete the course on-line you may logon to myscouts.ca using the e-mail address you used to register your Cub. (If you do not remember which one you used you can use any e-mail address however you will need to notify me when you have completed the course.) You will need to register for a password.

Once you have logged on look for a menu item on the upper right: "Training". It has a red background. Click on that.

This will open another very similar page. Now you need to click on "E-Learning Login" in green on the mid-left of the page. You should not need to log in again.

Now a new page will open and you are now at e-learning.scouts.ca

If the "Child and Youth Safety" course isn't in your "My Training" tab you will have to look in the "Training Catalog" tab to find it.

Click the triangle of the training catalog folder(s) until you see a folder called "Child and Youth Safety". You will need to enroll in this course.

Return to the "My Training" tab, select the course and begin the training. This will open a new window. Scouts Canada advises that you need to keep all the windows open in order for the system to acknowledge your work as completed.

You should note that you need to have a course in your "My Training" tab before the system will recognize you have completed it so make sure it is there before you start.

This course will take approximately an hour to complete. You may save your progress and log in later if you cannot complete it in one session.

I know that this is a fairly complicated process especially for those who have not completed any on-line training in this way. Please contact me if you have any trouble and I will do my best to get you back on track.

Yours in Scouting
