October camp and other news
Post date: Oct 22, 2013 10:33:56 PM
Thanks to the scouts that participated in this past weekend’s Apple Day and to the parents that helped with scheduling and coordination. The event went very smoothly and your boys did us proud. I will let you know the financial results when that information is available.
Oct 25-27 camp at Whonnock Lake in Maple Ridge. This is a beautiful site run by the Fraser Valley Scouts. There is a covered cooking and campfire area plus access to the lodge, if needed. We are meeting at the church at 2:30 pm on Friday to pack and get on the road by 3:30 pm. Activities will include campfire, skits, gourmet cooking, a rope obstacle course, and telescope viewing of the stars and moon. Weather prediction is good! Cost is $40 each. If you have not yet confirmed attendance, please contact me right away. You can bring a cheque for 25th Dunbar Scouts to camp on Friday. Shopping for food will be on Wed, Oct 23 at 7:30 pm at Stong’s. This is definitely a fun camp – not too challenging and a great way to connect with each other and build your camping skills.
Oct 28 – regular meeting. We have a guest coming to lead us in model plane building.
Tuesday, Oct 29 – Scout night at MEC. Time: 7 – 9 PM at 130 West Broadway. Receive 10% off all off of all regularly priced items purchased that evening – including bikes and boats! To attend, please RSVP at email@example.com. Participants must be a member of Mountain Equipment Co-op in order to make a purchase. If you are not yet a member, you may purchase a $5.00 membership that evening.
Nov 4 – full uniform meeting and part two of model plane building.
Nov 11 – Remembrance Day ceremony at UBC. Scouts are expected to attend this ceremony from 10:30 am to noon. Two of our patrol leaders, Christian and Cameron will be presenting a wreath on behalf of Scouts in the Pacific Spirit Area. No meeting that night.
